Paychex Song and Dance

Since this is anonymous……..here is my feedback!

I worked for Paychex for five years, and you’re right—what a song and dance! The starting wages are well below the market average and employees are overworked. When I attended training, I was very surprised when I opened my hotel room door to find another person was rooming with me – they didn’t tell either of us ahead of time! Thankfully she was nice, but I’ve heard some nightmare tales! There was certainly discrimination regarding hiring practices, but the branch offices are very skilled at stretching the truth when it comes to reasons for not employing qualified people. For the most part, the leadership are not admirable people. I’ve been to meetings where supervisors would badmouth employees and make fun of those experiencing personal difficulties—very two faced. This is not a company for a long term career. If you’d like to learn payroll (and don’t flunk the Corporate test and get fired), they do offer a good training program. Absorb it, and take that knowledge elsewhere, where you’ll be rewarded for your efforts and treated in a professional manner!

SCANDAL!!! Paychex Forces Employees to Sleep Together!!!

Paychex policy states that on all business trips of less than six consecutive nights, same gender employees must share a hotel room!!!

What cheap bastards!!! Can you imagine having to sleep with someone you do not know for a whole week???

And, it gets worse.

Paychex now offers "Domestic Partner" benefits. This means that Paychex readily admits that some of their employees are bi-sexual or gay. Nothing wrong with that, very progressive of them to offer such benefits.

But, that means that the "share a room" policy takes into account only "genetic gender" and not "sexual preference".

So, it is quite possible that, as an employee, you could be forced to sleep with someone of "like sexual preference".

Basically, there are no exceptions to the "policy".

"What if my roommate is homosexual or bi-sexual, can you help me"? No.

What if I have a medical condition that would make it uncomfortable for me or my roommate, can you help me"? No.

What if I refuse to suffer the humiliation of being forced to live and sleep with someone I do not know, what happens then"? You're fired.

Are you comfortable with this policy? Better take it into consideration BEFORE you decide to work at Paychex because they don't give a CRAP about your specific needs!

Paychex Dirty Little Secret!!!

Are you ready for this?

Paychex does NOT process its own payroll!!!

That's right! Paychex does not trust its own company to pay its people!

They use Fidelity for payroll processing!!!

Could you imagine the CEO of Ford not trusting their own product with the safety of their family and therefore driving a Volvo?

How about the CEO of Bank of America not trusting the security of BOA and therefore banking with Wachovia?

Paychex, one of the largest payroll processing companies in the country, uses a third party to process their own payroll!!!

WOW!!!

(More) Top 100 Places to Work Survey RIGGED???

Found on the Indeed.com discussion board:

As a former Paychex employee, let me share some insight as to why Paychex has been on the list for 5 consecutive years: the participants are not random or anonymous and are coached on how to respond to the questions on the survey. I KNOW this because I was one of the "randomly" selected participants.

Top 100 Places to Work is RIGGED!!!???

MeSunday July 20, 2008 @ 06:28 PM
As an EX employee of this company I can tell you that everything you have written here is right on the money. This company sucks. They under-hire and make lowly payroll specialists with virtually NO training do the job that 4 people should be doing. The managers of the company get bigger bonuses when they fire people and keep their staff down. The 100 best places to work thing every year is a total scam as they hand pick who they are going to send the survey too. Stay away from this place at all costs.

Paychex is being SUED!!!

Fireplace firm sues Paychex

Paychex Inc. is facing a lawsuit from a Los Angeles-based custom fireplace company that has accused it of fraud. The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court in the Central District of California on Oct. 16.The company, Ironforge.com, alleges the Penfield-based payroll and humans services company engaged in fraud by embezzling small sums of money from its customers by "arbitrarily increasing fees or by charging small, undisclosed fees which customers never agreed to pay," court documents state. It also alleges Paychex of not immediately depositing money for payroll into an employee's account after deducting it and prematurely withdrawing money from clients' banks to pay taxes.
The lawsuit claims the fraud has passed undetected and unabated for years. Court filings state Ironforge.com was a Paychex client from March 2003 to June 2007. The suit cites reviews from epinions.com, a customer-generated Web site, that portray the company in a negative light and complain of overcharging for services.Paychex spokeswoman Laura Saxby Lynch said it is company policy not to comment on pending litigation."But I can tell you we will we will aggressively defend ourselves against these claims," she said.

Fail the Test and You are FIRED!!!

When you accept a job at Paychex, here is a little tidbit they don't share with you.

At the end of your training class, you are given a comprehensive test.  If you fail the test, you are fired!  That's right!  Your job offer is contingent on your passing the test!  If you don't, well, bye bye!!!

Can you retake the test?  No!
Can you retake the training and try again?  No!

This might be OK with you if you are fresh out of college and looking for your first "real job".  But imagine the poor schmuck who is seduced by the Paychex song and dance, quits a good job to work for Paychex, and then fails the test!

Just one more example of the horrible policies that defines Paychex.

Draconian Paychex Policies

You are going to love this one...

Paychex has a policy that prohibits alcohol in any property owned or rented by Paychex. THIS POLICY EXTENDS TO HOTEL ROOMS PAID FOR BY PAYCHEX!!!

So, Paychex feels that what you do, after hours, in the privacy of your own hotel room, is their business!!!

These photos of my hotel room fridge fully explain my response to this Paychex policy.

Some comments from around the web

High stress environment. Too busy pointing fingers at other departments to do a great job of fixing what is broken. Too much politiking by middle and senior management. Very inconsistent in enforcement of company policies. "

Some people are in supervisory/management positions that shouldn't be. It seems like if you've made the right friends and have been there long enough, then you're in. The software is too antiquated - windows over DOS!

The other HUGE problem I have is the ridiculous dress code for IT employees. There's NO reason that IT employees need to be dressed in a suit everyday just to sit in front of a computer for 8 hours. When meeting with clients, yes, you need to dress up more; but regular, day to day work, there's no reason why we can't wear just a generic collared shirt and nice jeans/khakis

Beware the GLASS ELEVATOR!!!

If anyone needs proof that Paychex is run by a bunch of self-important elitists, one needs only look at the "Glass Elevator Policy". I am NOT making this up, I swear!!!

The office in Rochester features a circular atrium. In the center of that atrium is a glass elevator. Before I ever visited the Rochester office, I was warned by co-workers that I should NEVER ride the glass elevator!!! I though they were just kidding... I was wrong!

Immediately upon arrival at HQ, new employees are sternly warned by the security guard that they should never ride the glass elevator. This is because the glass elevator is "reserved for visitors".

During our training, the instructor devoted 15 minutes to warning us that we should never use the glass elevators. I'm not making this up!

"We ask that you not use the glass elevator as these are reserved for visitors", they say.

Bullshit.

I have never seen a "visitor" ride the Glass Elevator. You know who does ride it? The executives of the company.

These elitist jackasses parade through the office, never once stopping to speak to the people that are putting millions in their pockets each year. They then board their Glass Elevator and ride it to their offices in the Ivory Tower.

Paychex is a company of "haves and have nots". The Glass Elevator issue may seem trivial, but it is a symptom of a much bigger problem. The executives at Paychex truly think they are better than the employees that work there. And this attitude is reflected in the policies and procedures of the company.

Here is a photo of the sacred glass elevator. And who is riding it? A visitor? Why NO!!! Not a visitor! It is just an arrogant elitist Paychex executive jackass carrying his lunch up to his ivory tower office. After all, he can't be seen eating lunch with the common folks in the cafeteria!!! Why, that just wouldn't DO!!!

By the way, did you know that there is a policy against "photographic equipment and camera phones" at Paychex? Now you know why!!!

You Are Being WATCHED!!!

Like most corporations, Paychex has a pretty tight computer use policy. That is OK, after all, they do own the computers!!!

But here are a few things you most likely did not know.

  • All traffic on Paychex computers and network is monitored
  • If you send or receive an email, Paychex has a copy of it!
  • If you send an email using a service like Yahoo or Gmail, Paychex has a copy of it!
  • If you visit a website, Paychex has a record of it!
  • If you enter a password into a site (to check email, etc.) Paychex can see your password!

All internet traffic goes through Paychex's web proxy. Don't believe me? In Internet Explorer, click on Tools / Internet Options/ Connections / LAN Settings. See the proxy info in the box? That means that ALL traffic from your browser is routed through their proxy before going into our out of the Internet. Since they route the traffic, they can read it. And they DO!!!

NEVER use a Paychex computer for ANYTHING other than Paychex business. They know way too much about you already! Do you really want them to know your bank account info? Your political views? Your medical concerns? Your plans for the weekend?

Remember! ALL COMPUTER TRAFFIC IS MONITORED! THERE IS NO PRIVACY ON A PAYCHEX COMPUTER!!! AND THIS IS 100% LEGAL!!!

Oh, and this extends to company issues wireless devices, too! If you carry a Paychex cell phone or wireless Internet card, you are being monitored!!! If your phone has GPS, they can track you too!

Remember that if the wireless account is in Paychex name, they have access to all of the data associated with that account!

They can read your text messages! Intercept your email! Track your location! View your detailed call records!

Be warned!!!
